In Praise of Realism in Writing
The wooden ornament resembles a door I saw. I was certain that that door was historical, but why had I not known enough about it? Is this not the country where I am from? The quarantine and the new restrictions, combined with the lower quality of nutritional products on the market, has bought me a new perspective of the island. The island which took its name from a precious chemical that was the copper.
Natural resources continue posing cause for conflict. What is going on in the sea which surrounds me? Who really did what and in which way can I protect myself as an individual? As time goes by, I feel that the group identities which took hold and put their roots down over long years are even more efficient than before now. Of course, the distancing measures are obliging these persons to stay away. I am not certain whether their bonds were of genuine nature anyway. But what about money? What about the resources? The way they will be shared keep influencing our everyday lives, slowly but surely.
I want to get back to my writing. Those of you who had been reading my blog since 2010 would know that I had the topic of film for my blogs, mostly. Now I want to make some changes. I feel that I want to share more, a diversity of subjects. And there is no other medium which I came to value as much as I value 'writing'. The words on page come together and acquire a life of their own.
Just how will my academic writing take off again? While I want to bring the words onto the page, I still cannot manage to give long lives to my characters. They are there for a while, they talk and feel. And there are some conversations that many people may find something of their own in. But then it stops. Like a piece of music that suddenly silences itself, meaning lingers up in the air. Words remain.
