A sensitive girl's face with very few male features. She is calm, and caring. She lives with an older man and her brother. the man (whi may or may not be her father0 approaches her with affection. He's very supportive. We don't know much about him until the end of the film except that he is very sensitive about tbe ge der idet=ntity issues of this minor. A 16 year old person in a man's body undergoes medical treatment in order to delay puberty nd adjust his hormones for a forthcoming sex-change operation.

He (or she) is a perfectionist. She likes her body in a given way. He wants it to be different. He obsesses about it in a tender manner. He tapes himelf. He loves beauty so much that he wants to dance and study ballet but in a girl's body. In dance, roles are so strict, very gendered. But performance arts reserve absolute beauty for ballet in particular.

The film is breath-taking. It dazzles you aesthetically and transforms you into a world of beauty: beauty which is sought after and beauty which causes stress as well as satisfaction. The emotional profundity of the main character, Lara. leaves you with a new friend at the end of the film. Throughout the film, I kept questioning myself about how I perceived gender in a given way. The film puts the dogmas of immediate acceptance of gender into question.
